How Does the Postseason Ticket Reservation Marketplace Work?
The Postseason Ticket Reservation marketplace broadens access to MLB Postseason tickets by giving fans the ability to purchase a reservation that guarantees the opportunity to purchase a face value ticket if/when the fan's selected team qualifies for a selected Postseason game. Each Postseason Ticket Reservation purchased (maximum two (2) per team, per series, per household) guarantees the purchaser an opportunity to buy one (1) ticket for the designated home game if the selected team qualifies.
For example, you can purchase a Postseason Ticket Reservation for one (1) ticket to your favorite team's 2010 American League Division Series ("ALDS") Home Game 1 (either ALDS Game 1 or ALDS Game 3 based on home field advantage). If your selected team qualifies for the 2010 ALDS then such team is certain to play in ALDS Home Game 1. Once your team is certain to play in your designated game, you will receive an e-mail sent to the e-mail address associated with your MLB.com account containing instructions as to how to purchase your reserved ticket(s) from the Postseason Ticket Reservation marketplace. You must purchase your reserved tickets from this website within the purchase window set forth in the e-mail notifying you that your reserved tickets are available for sale. The purchase window will close well before the scheduled start of the game for which you are holding a reservation. Ticket(s) to each game of the 2010 MLB Postseason will be available for purchase to holders of reservation(s) via the Postseason Ticket Reservation marketplace during that limited purchase window ONLY. Ticket(s) reserved with Postseason Ticket Reservation(s) are not available for purchase in any location other than this website. If you do not purchase your reserved ticket(s) during the specified purchase window, your reservation will expire. No refunds will be granted, for any reason, of the purchase price of Postseason Ticket Reservation(s).
Reserved ticket(s) will be available for purchase to those holding Postseason Ticket Reservation(s) for the specified team and designated game and will be available for purchase at face value. The purchase price and any service charges or transaction fees associated with the purchase of Postseason Ticket Reservation(s) are not applied to the cost of the MLB Postseason ticket(s) made available for purchase by valid reservation holders on this website.
If your selected team doesn't play the game for which you purchased Postseason Ticket Reservation(s), either because the team does not qualify or because the game is not necessary, no refunds will be given for your purchased Postseason Ticket Reservation(s).
All Postseason Ticket Reservations are for "Home Games"
Each Postseason Ticket Reservation is listed as a "Home Game" on the sell page of the Postseason Ticket Reservation marketplace. This means you are purchasing reservation(s) for a designated game to be hosted by your selected team at its home ballpark during a specific series of the 2010 MLB Postseason.
Home field advantage - having one (1) extra home game in a series - is determined in the MLB Postseason based on, among other things, a team's Regular Season record. For the 2010 World Series only, home field advantage is granted to the team whose league won the 2010 All-Star Game. Each team in each Postseason series will have a "Home Game 1". Below explains for both the best of five (5) games Division Series and the best of seven (7) games League Championship Series and World Series how to determine to which game your Postseason Ticket Reservation will correspond:
DIVISION SERIES ("DS") (best of 5 series)
Home Game 1 will be Game 1 or Game 3 of the DS, depending on whether your selected team has home field advantage, if so, it will be Game 1, if not, Game 3.
Home Game 2 will be Game 2 or Game 4 of the DS, depending on whether your selected team has home field advantage, if so, it will be Game 2, if not, Game 4. Game 4 will only be played if necessary.
Home Game 3 will be Game 5 of the DS and take place at the ballpark of the team with home field advantage. Game 5 will only be played if necessary.
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ("LCS") AND WORLD SERIES ('WS") (best of 7 series)
Home Game 1 will be Game 1 or Game 3 of the LCS or WS, depending on whether your selected team has home field advantage, if so, it will be Game 1, if not, Game 3.
Home Game 2 will be Game 2 or Game 4 of the LCS or WS, depending on whether your selected team has home field advantage, if so, it will be Game 2, if not, Game 4.
Home Game 3 will be Game 5 or Game 6 of the LCS or WS, depending on whether your selected team has home field advantage, if not, it will be Game 5, if so, Game 6. Each game will only be played if necessary.
Home Game 4 will be Game 7 of the LCS or WS and will take place in the home ballpark of the team with home field advantage. Game 7 will only be played if necessary.
